We camped here for 2 nights: and that was not long enough. Very nice campground. The park staff was very friendly and courteous. The restrooms and showers are very modern and clean and also air conditioned makes it nice on hot summer days. The beaches are nice and just across the street is a public swimming pool if you don’t like the ocean. Fernandina Beach has a great historic district with beautiful Victorian homes and shops. The park is really close to all the action but goes back 2 miles so the campground is away from the traffic. We toured the fort with a museum and several “Union Soldiers” from 1864 give visitors a characterization of life at the fort as a northerner stationed in Florida. We did not do the late tour but the first weekend of every month the fort comes alive. The only draw back it the very long road from the campground to the main street: 3 miles and takes a good 10 minutes. Pets are not allowed on the beach in the park but can go to the public beach outside of the park. I would stay here again.
Yes the sites are big and for the most part very level and if you just want a place to stay then this is OK. However, if you have kids (1-21yo) there is not much for them to do after the first 3 hours. There are 3 trails that can be explored and there is the river, 1/2 mile away. That is about it. While there you can go to Wild Water and Silver Springs, another waste if time and money for anyone with kids. It is $25 per person for the water park that has 3 rides and a wave pool. A family of 4 is $100 plus anything that you buy to eat. Silver springs has 3 boat rides and a jeep ride. All the jokes are the same on each boat ride and the jeep ride is really lame as my grand daughters put it. If the kids are over 9 and under 18 the place is not that great as there are no rides that the kids want to go on. If you're going to someplace I would recommend Wild Adventures in Georgia and not to Ocala. Just my opinion.
OMG they call this a RESORT, and C2C calls it a DELUXE CG, I wonder what what they are thinking. The place in OK for an overnight if you get there before 6pm. They are not really in Woodbine they are in the Woodbine Zip code but are located 10 miles for Woodbine. They have a nice little pool but the state has pulled the Adult Spa. There is no cable and you can get 5 TV stations. If you have kids skip the place. If you just want a place to stop on the way north or south it is OK. The sites are good size and are mostly grass and stones. The folks that run the place are nice but have numerous rules that they tell you about when you check in. They are a C2C. Passport America, and Happy Camper organization.
Did you say beach front/view property for $25 a night? Yes!! That is true and that is why it is almost impossible to get into the place. I was lucky and just happen to get a site for last weekend. The DW says she will come back here anytime but getting resevations is hard. There are other campgrounds in the area but for double the price. We would stay here again.
Lake City Campground is 1 mile north of I-10 at Hwy 441 about 63 miles from Jacksonville. The Office is only open from 4-7PM and check in is at the same time. The place has a pool, playground and 2 ponds. The restrooms and spotless and the store/office has about anything you might want. You are about 4 miles from downtown Lake City that has a lot of small shops and eating places. I would stay there again if I am in Lake City area.
We stayed here a few years ago and it was a nice place with activities and friendly folks. This time when I went to check in they (the store area) told me that it was under new ownership and that they had nothing to do with the campground. I mentioned that the signs still said this was check area and they told me "Like I side we have nothing to do with the campground you need to go to the gate." The place is mostly cabins anymore that are for sale, and there are about 100 for sale signs all over the place. The shower houses are about as clean as any gas stations restrooms. Most of the folks you see are over 60 (me too), and there are no activites except for church on Sunday. I think the small resturant only serves breakfast on the weekends. I don't think we will ever go back. I am sorry because this was the first place we camped after moving to Florida and we really enjoyed it back then.
This is a nice clean park. The best in the Dayton Beach area. It is well kept. The staff is friendly and helpfull; they show you to your site and help get you in. They have tennis, mini-golf, pool, playground, suffle board, and a fishing pond. Cable TV is poor but overall the park is more of a resort than a campground. This was our second trip and we will go back. The resorts new name is Encore Sunshine Resort and can be found under www.encoreresorts.com.
I spent a month there, very nice laid-back owner but the place is nice, well maintained and clean. The place is quiet and you feel safe. The place always fills up at night and is used mostly by folks traveling up & down I95. It is great for a stop over. Across the street are a few gas stations/truck stops and they also have fast food places within walking distance. The only downside is no pool/playground for kids or hot tubs, but I recommend the campground.
